Basketball Recap: Northeast Academy Triumphs

Northeast Academy won the last time they faced Pungo Christian Academy and Arland Davis did her part to make sure it happened again. The Eagles snuck past the Raiders with a 49-44 win on Friday thanks in part to Davis, who almost dropped a double-double with 26 points and nine rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Northeast Academy's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Long, who posted five points in addition to 11 boards and three steals. Northeast Academy is undefeated when Long posts ten or more rebounds, but 6-8 otherwise.

Despite the defeat, Pungo Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lexy Tate dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten boards. Kacey Keech was another key player, putting up four points and nine rebounds.

Northeast Academy's record now sits at 13-8. As for Pungo Christian Academy, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-13 record.

Northeast Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Raiders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
