The James Island Trojans put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They blew past Hilton Head Island, posting a 38-0 victory at home. The result was nothing new for James Island, who have now won seven contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
James Island's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Braxton Scott led the charge by rushing for 34 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 195 yards and a touchdown on only 14 passes. Amontrae Scott was another key contributor, picking up 98 receiving yards and a touchdown.
James Island's win was their 13th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35 points. As for Hilton Head Island, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
James Island will head out on the road to face off against Lucy Beckham at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lucy Beckham knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully James Island likes a good challenge. As for Hilton Head Island, they will be playing in front of their home fans against May River at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (May River is ranked 102nd, while Hilton Head Island is ranked 120th).
