Basketball Game Preview: Madison Cubs vs. East Central Trojans

Madison hasn't had much luck against East Central recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Madison Cubs will head out to face off against the East Central Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Madison took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They managed a 47-41 victory over Scottsburg.

Meanwhile, East Central made easy work of Rushville on Wednesday and carried off a 52-29 win.

East Central's win came from a few key players Madison will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Meredith Sizemore, who posted 15 points. Those 15 points gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Natalie Stenger, who earned nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.

East Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Madison's record is now 12-4. As for East Central, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Madison and East Central were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, but Madison came up empty-handed after a 43-42 loss. Can Madison avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
