Baseball Recap: Cloverdale Beats White River Valley for Their Third Straight Win

Cloverdale strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on the White River Valley Wolverines with a sharp 20-6 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-0 on Saturday.

Landon Duncan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hit any time he's pitched this season. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (four).

In other batting news, Hudson Young was a standout: he scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Corey Branigan, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Cloverdale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as White River Valley only managed seven hits.

Cloverdale's record now sits at 3-0. As for White River Valley, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cloverdale will host Terre Haute South Vigo at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Clovers are facing the Braves at the right time seeing as the Braves are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for White River Valley, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Greencastle at 6:00 p.m.
