It was a good run, but Escondido Charter unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Classical Academy Caimans, falling 32-12. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Caimans are ranked 30th).

When it comes to explaining why Escondido Charter lost, don't look at Abigail Gilbertson. Despite the final result, she picked up 120 receiving yards and two TDs. Gilbertson was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 66 yards.

Even if they lost, Escondido Charter's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Gilbertson, Teagen Hustead, and Lacey Webster, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Escondido Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Classical Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8.

Escondido Charter wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 32-0 victory against Pacific Ridge on the 22nd. As for Classical Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 62-0 win against Tri-City Christian on the 23rd.
