Softball Game Preview: Bradford Red Devils vs. Gleason Bulldogs

The Bradford Red Devils will square off against the Gleason Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bradford comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Things were looking good for Bradford after they put the first runs on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Peabody, falling 23-10. Even if the Red Devils couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Meanwhile, Gleason hadn't done well against South Fulton recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Bulldogs skirted past the Red Devils 2-1. The game was the first time the Bulldogs have beaten the Red Devils on their field since April 20, 2021.

Gleason saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elaine Covington, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Covington wasn't the only one making solid contact: Gleason kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Fulton only managed six hits.

Gleason has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Bradford, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Everything went Bradford's way against Gleason in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, as Bradford made off with a 14-0 win. Do the Red Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
