Softball Recap: Hewlett's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Hewlett entered their tilt with Valley Stream Central on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by a 13-4 margin over the Eagles. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Coralia Savin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI.

In other batting news, Kayla Owens was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Rachel Cafaro was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Hewlett kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Hewlett's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

Coming up, Hewlett will face off against Hempstead at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Valley Stream Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Westbury at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
