Recap: Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans vs. Calhoun County Saints
The Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans lost against the Calhoun County Saints back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Ridge Spring-Monetta took a 54-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Calhoun County. Ridge Spring-Monetta has not had much luck with Calhoun County recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Ridge Spring-Monetta saw an underclassman step up: Sariya Geyer scored six points along with ten rebounds and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Bri Hendley, who scored nine points along with 12 rebounds and six blocks.
Calhoun County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cassidy Pough, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Takara Brown was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Ridge Spring-Monetta's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Calhoun County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Ridge Spring-Monetta will be playing at home against Denmark-Olar at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Denmark-Olar presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ridge Spring-Monetta in South Carolina (Denmark-Olar is ranked 54th, while Ridge Spring-Monetta is ranked 211th). As for Calhoun County, they will head out on the road to challenge North at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
