Basketball Recap: Ninety Six Wildcats vs. Emerald Vikings
Ninety Six was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Emerald Vikings an easy 59-33 victory. The game marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring match so far this season.
Emerald found their leader in sophomore Rykevius Logan, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 12 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for Logan. The team also got some help courtesy of Damarquis Hopkins, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.
Ninety Six's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Emerald, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ninety Six will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Crescent at 8:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Emerald, they will take on Ware Shoals in a tournament on December 27th. Ware Shoals knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Emerald likes a good challenge.
