Football Recap: Edgewood Piles Up the Points Against Harmony

Edgewood had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They blew past the Harmony Eagles, posting a 35-7 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bulldogs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 395th, while the Eagles are ranked 834th).

Edgewood was led to victory by Trevor Golightly and Lucas Pippin. Golightly rushed for 74 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries, while Pippin rushed for 109 yards and two TDs on only eight carries. Pippin's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 108 rushing yards. Jathen Johnson also helped out with an impressive 95 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Edgewood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 263 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 166 rushing yards in five consecutive matchups.

Edgewood's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Harmony, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Coincidentally, Edgewood and Harmony will both be playing Chisum the next time they take the field. The Eagles will host the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Bulldogs will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st.
