Basketball Recap: Sikeston Beats Kennett for Their Fifth Straight Win

Sikeston waltzed into their game on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Kennett Indians by a score of 65-52. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 79-49 loss the last time these two teams met.

Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alyce Edwards, who posted 35 points and three steals. That was a full 67.3% of Kennett's points, marking the 20th time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Ellis, who put up seven points in addition to 17 boards and four steals.

Sikeston's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-8. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Kennett, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-10.

Sikeston will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Central at 6:00 p.m. on February 19th. As for Kennett, they will challenge East Carter at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
