Softball Recap: Cypress Creek Bears vs. Lake Nona Lions
Cypress Creek lost against Lake Nona back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Bears fell just short of the Lions by a score of 10-9. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Amanda Cintron put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and nine unearned) runs off 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Alondra Lozada and Britney Freitez did some serious damage despite the final result: Lozada scored a run while going 4-for-5, while Freitez got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Izabella Hernandez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.
Cypress Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Lake Nona, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cypress Creek will venture away from home to take on University at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bears are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Lake Nona, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Lake Nona Lions face off against Winter Park Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
