Volleyball Recap: Mineral Ridge Extends Winning Streak to Six

Mineral Ridge barely beat Newton Falls the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rams put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 3-0 win on Monday. The victory was nothing new for the Rams as they're now sitting on six straight.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Mineral Ridge took every set by at least 13 points. The final score came out to 25-10, 25-7, 25-12.

Tomlyn Sandy went supernova, getting 16 digs and two aces. She has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more digs the last three times she's played.

They weren't the only good servers: Mineral Ridge was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 16 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Torrie Fanton, who had 19 digs and 11 assists.

Mineral Ridge's win bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Newton Falls, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-6.

Mineral Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against McKinley on the 23rd. As for Newton Falls, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Liberty on the 23rd.
