Baseball Recap: Overton Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

Overton won the last time they faced Kingsbury and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Wolverines were the clear victors by a 16-7 margin over the Falcons. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won 11 matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Sammy Kehrli made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Julian Tallent was incredible, firing off two triples, two stolen bases, and three runs while going 4-for-5. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marquel Brooks, who went 2-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Overton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kingsbury only posted a batting average of .296.

Overton's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.2 runs. As for Kingsbury, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11-1 record this season.

As of now, neither Overton nor Kingsbury have any future games scheduled.
