Basketball Recap: Wills Point Falls to North Lamar in First Game of Season

Wills Point had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were beaten by the North Lamar Panthers 67-32. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 62-42 to the Panthers when the teams met back in November of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Wills Point's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hayes Romell, who posted five points and three steals. Eli Rice was another key player, putting up six points and eight boards.

Wills Point didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-38 victory against Rusk on the 18th. As for North Lamar, they will welcome Prairiland at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
