Baseball Recap: North Bend Takes a Loss

North Bend had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 11-6 to make it four. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Junction City Tigers. The match marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

As for Junction City, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.

For Junction City's part, Jayden Lucas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up eight Ks. Lucas has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Josh Berry, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Leylen Goble was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

While North Bend had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
