Preview: Freeman Scotties vs. West Valley Eagles
The Freeman Scotties will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the West Valley Eagles at 7:15 p.m. Freeman will be looking to keep their 14-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
On Tuesday, Freeman really took it to Lakeside for the full four quarters, racking up a 69-31 victory at home. That looming 69-31 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Freeman yet this season.
Freeman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Micah Hodges led the charge by scoring 16 points. Another player making a difference was Caleb Grant, who scored 15 points.
West Valley aren't just finding sucess at home, as their game on Friday extended their overall winning streak to four. They strolled past Riverside with points to spare, taking the game 55-38. Given West Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Riverside is ranked 125th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Freeman's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for West Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
Freeman was able to grind out a solid victory over West Valley in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, winning 65-55. Does Freeman have another victory up their sleeve, or will West Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
