Basketball Recap: Faith Lutheran Takes a Loss

On Friday, the Faith Lutheran Crusaders didn't have quite enough to beat the Orange Lutheran Lancers and fell 51-48. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Crusaders came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked ninth in Nevada, while the Lancers are ranked 112th in California).

Despite the loss, Faith Lutheran still got an impressive performance from Emma Herpin, who went 9 for 17 on her way to 26 points in addition to six boards and three steals. That was a full 54.2% of Faith Lutheran's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Khloe Pitts, who put up two points and seven rebounds.

Faith Lutheran dropped their record down to 7-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Orange Lutheran, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.

Faith Lutheran will take on Bishop Gorman at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Bishop Gorman's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games. As for Orange Lutheran, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Coronado at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
