Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln County Lynx vs. Needles Mustangs

The Lincoln County Lynx and the Needles Mustangs will face off at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lincoln County is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Laughlin: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Lincoln County blew Laughlin out of the water with a 55-27 final score. The win was nothing new for the Lynx as they're now sitting on five straight.

Lincoln County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emma Bleak out in front who posted 13 points. Bleak is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Heiselbetz, who earned 12 points.

Meanwhile, Needles had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 48.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They blew past the Bobcats 60-30. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Mustangs had established a 24 point advantage.

Needles pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.8 points per game. As for Lincoln County, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.

Lincoln County was dealt a bruising 55-25 defeat at the hands of Needles in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Needles' Gianna Collier, who scored 27 points in addition to eight boards and six steals.
