Maine-Endwell had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 6-7 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Owego Free Academy River Hawks 2-1. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the River Hawks, too.

As for Owego Free Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-4-1. The match marked their lowest-scoring game so far this season.

For Owego Free Academy's part, Elijah Lewis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up nine Ks. Lewis has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

Maine-Endwell will have a chance to go back-to-back against Owego Free Academy: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
