Football Game Preview: Ligonier Valley Rams vs. Apollo Ridge Vikings

The Ligonier Valley Rams are taking a road trip to face off against the Apollo Ridge Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ligonier Valley has given up an average of 36.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ligonier Valley's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Steel Valley on Friday. They took a blow against the Ironmen, falling 49-0. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Ironmen recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Apollo Ridge). They came out on top against South Park by a score of 45-34 on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Vikings needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Apollo Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Ligonier Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Ligonier Valley has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 162.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Apollo Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 156.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Ligonier Valley couldn't quite finish off Apollo Ridge in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 and fell 31-28. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
