Basketball Recap: Jake Hamilton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead New Life Christian Academy over Bloomingdale

After flying high against Heritage Christian last Saturday, New Life Christian Academy came back down to earth. The New Life Christian Academy Lions came up short against the Bloomingdale Blazers on Tuesday, falling 83-57. The Lions have struggled against the Blazers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

New Life Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jake Hamilton, who dropped a triple-double with ten points, 14 rebounds, and 19 assists. He is becoming a predictor of New Life Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least ten assists the team is 12-5 (and 1-6 when he doesn't). Abraham Robinson was another key player, dropping a double-double with 15 points and 12 boards.

Even though they lost, New Life Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 17 consecutive matchups.

Bloomingdale's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Peyton Scheidler led the charge by shooting 5-for-8 from downtown and almost dropping a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Scheidler a new career-high in assists (five). Another player making a difference was Caleb McClung, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 17 boards.

New Life Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Bloomingdale, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a massive bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Looking ahead, New Life Christian Academy will look to defend their home court on Friday against Beth Haven Christian at 5:00 p.m. As for Bloomingdale, they will head out to face off against Sugar Creek Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
