Baseball Recap: Cherokee Chiefs vs. Volunteer Falcons
Cherokee lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Volunteer, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's game. The Cherokee Chiefs never let the Volunteer Falcons get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Monday. For the Chiefs, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 win the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.
Manning Brooks made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Brooks was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those hits marked the first that he got this season.

In other batting news, Cherokee got a massive performance out of Charles Wagoner, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Wagoner has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Parker Travis was another key player, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double.
Cherokee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.
