Volleyball Recap: Smoky Valley Comes Up Short

Smoky Valley and Trinity Academy squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Smoky Valley had to settle for second. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights. The Vikings' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it six in a row.

While Smoky Valley ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-18.

Their offense was headlined by Trista Spitler and Kenzley Haxton, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Ceeley Friesen and her nine assists. She was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Smoky Valley's loss dropped their record down to 12-26. As for Trinity Academy, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-5.

Smoky Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Trinity Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Garden Plain on the 20th.
