Baseball Recap: McEwen Gets the Win

McEwen was handed an eight-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Perry County Vikings 9-8. The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Vikings, too.

Tylon Carter and Knox Parham were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Carter struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Parham pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts Carter has posted since back in March of 2025. At the plate, Carter went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Parham went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double. Those hits marked the first that Carter has got this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ben McPherson, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kainan Gill, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

McEwen's record is now 3-1-1. As for Perry County, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

McEwen will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Vikings: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
