Baseball Game Preview: Patterson Tigers vs. Manteca Buffaloes

The Patterson Tigers will head out to challenge the Manteca Buffaloes at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Patterson is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

On Monday, Patterson was able to grind out a solid win over Manteca, taking the game 7-3. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly four runs.

Max Medina made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Noah Cozart and Guy Allard did most of the damage at the plate: Cozart scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Allard went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. CJ Medina also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Patterson pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Manteca, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Patterson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Manteca struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
