Broadway proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the East Rockingham Eagles, sneaking past 3-2. The victory was nothing new for the Gobblers as they're now sitting on three straight.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Broadway got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-21, 27-29, 25-17, 23-25, 15-12.
Despite the loss, East Rockingham had strong showings from Kelsey Hatton, who had 32 digs and two aces, and Savannah Davis, who had 13 digs and four aces. Hatton has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more digs the last 14 times she's played.
Broadway's win bumped their record up to 15-4. As for East Rockingham, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-7.
We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Broadway is set to face off against their familiar foe Harrisonburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, East Rockingham will square off against rival Spotswood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
