Softball Recap: Pueblo South Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses at Home + How To Watch

Pueblo South had lost six games at home, but after bumping their record up to 4-9 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 13-11 victory over the Pueblo Centennial Bulldogs. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Colts also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

Pueblo South got a massive performance out of Desirae Colby, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Colby a new career-high. Madisyn Gilliland was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.

As for Pueblo Centennial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games.

On Pueblo Centennial's side, they saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ellie Zinanti, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Remi Baca also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Coming up, Pueblo South will challenge Holy Family at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Colts' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pueblo Centennial, they will host Doherty at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.13 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
