Softball Game Preview: Archbishop McNicholas Rockets vs. Batavia Bulldogs

The Archbishop McNicholas Rockets will head out to square off against the Batavia Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Archbishop McNicholas hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Archbishop McNicholas' offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Blanchester on Wednesday.

Natalie Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks.

Meanwhile, Batavia also failed to score in their most recent game. They came up short against Goshen on Wednesday, falling 6-0. The shutout was out of character for the Bulldogs seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Batavia has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Archbishop McNicholas, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Archbishop McNicholas might still be hurting after the 15-5 loss they got from Batavia in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Rockets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
