Soccer Game Preview: Tanque Verde vs. Thatcher

Tanque Verde and Thatcher are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2016, but likely not for long. It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Tanque Verde duke it out with the Thatcher at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Tanque Verde's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Catalina 10-0. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Trojans are ranked 171st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Thatcher entered their tilt with Coolidge on Monday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Everything went their way against the Bears as they made off with a 10-0 win.

Tanque Verde is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 47 goals over those seven matches. As for Thatcher, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2.
