Volleyball Recap: Cumberland Find Success

The Cumberland Pirates sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the North Clay Cardinals on Thursday.

Cumberland had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-22, 25-8.

Madelyn McElravy paced Cumberland's offense, picking up 12 kills. McElravy got some help from Alysa Dittamore and her 11 assists. Dittamore and McElravy didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with four apiece.

The victory got Cumberland back to even at 1-1. As for North Clay, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Cumberland has already played their next game, a 2-1 win against North Clay/Clay City on the 28th. As for North Clay, they will take on Fairfield on Saturday.
