Preview: Douglass Bulldogs vs. Lyons Lions
The Douglass Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Lyons Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Douglass is ranked 213th, while Lyons is ranked 191st).
Douglass had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Bluestem with a 13-8 win on Friday. The win was just what Douglass needed coming off of a 48-7 loss in their prior match.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Lyons, who are still winless after their eighth game. They took a serious blow against Hillsboro on Friday, falling 52-13.
Although Lyons took the loss, they still got scores from Deacon Showalter and Ethan Luck.
Douglass' win bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Lyons, their loss was their 17th straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8.
Everything came up roses for Douglass against Lyons in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 55-8 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Douglass since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
