Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Randolph

Randolph hadn't done well against Ellicottville recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Eagles. With that win, the Cardinals brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Aiden Taylor tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, David Malone and Connor Braley did most of the damage at the plate: Malone went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Braley went 1-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave Braley a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kevin McElwain, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

The victory (which was Randolph's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Ellicottville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.

Randolph will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
