Basketball Recap: Pickett County Drops Highest Score of Season Against Red Boiling Springs

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pickett County). They blew past the Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs 83-33 on Friday. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 413th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pickett County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cole Amonett, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 13 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Reagan, who went 5 of 9 en route to 12 points and four steals.

Pickett County was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Pickett County has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.6 points per game. As for Red Boiling Springs, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Pickett County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-46 victory against Clarkrange on the 21st. As for Red Boiling Springs, they will challenge Clay County at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th.
