Basketball Game Preview: Ocean Springs Greyhounds vs. Biloxi Indians

Ocean Springs is 2-8 against Biloxi since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Ocean Springs Greyhounds will take on the Biloxi Indians at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Ocean Springs took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 37-35 victory over D'Iberville. The win was some much needed relief for the Greyhounds as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Biloxi put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their game with ease, bagging a 67-31 victory over Harrison Central. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 23 points or more this season.

Biloxi's win came from a few key players Ocean Springs will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Zaniya Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 boards. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Davison, who posted 12 points in addition to six assists and three steals.

Biloxi's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.9 points per game. As for Ocean Springs, their victory ended a 13-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-4.

Ocean Springs took a serious blow against Biloxi in their previous meeting back in January, falling 53-18. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Johnson, who had 18 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
