The North Newton Spartans are taking a road trip to take on the North White Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Newton is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.
North White's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: North Newton hadn't allowed a single run the last four times they've hit the field. The Spartans put the hurt on Faith Christian with a sharp 13-0 victory on Monday. Considering the Spartans have won seven games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Sydney Rainford was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, North Newton got a massive performance out of Caylee Oxley, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those five stolen bases gave Oxley a new career-high. Paige Culbreth also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
North Newton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Faith Christian only posted an OBP of .062.
Meanwhile, North White hadn't done well against Attica recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Vikings came out on top against the Red Ramblers by a score of 5-2.
Raelynn Anliker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Morgan Carter, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Kaylyn Applegate, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
North Newton's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for North White, their record now sits at 7-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. North Newton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 13.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like North White struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went North Newton's way against North White in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as North Newton made off with a 12-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
