Basketball Recap: Montwood Find Success

Montwood won the last time they faced Chapin, and Mia Hairston did her part to make sure it happened again. The Montwood Rams secured a 36-31 W over the Chapin Huskies on Friday thanks in part to Hairston, who posted five points in addition to six boards and five assists. That's the most assists she has posted since back in November of 2024.

Another player making a difference was Ashley Gutierrez, who put up nine points and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.

Chapin's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Autumn Blackwell, who had two points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Vanessa Mora, who posted nine points.

Montwood's record is now 14-6. As for Chapin, they now have a losing record at 10-11.

Montwood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 48-45 victory against Lubbock-Cooper on the 27th. As for Chapin, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 51-34 defeat against Plainview on the 27th.
