Softball Game Preview: Thatcher Eagles vs. Safford Bulldogs

Thatcher is 1-9 against Safford since March of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Thatcher has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Thatcher's offense. They lost 15-0 to Empire on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Safford sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over Pusch Ridge Christian Academy on Wednesday. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly two runs.

Safford has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Thatcher, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-14.
