Softball Recap: Carlinville Has No Trouble Against Jacksonville

Carlinville not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 28th (when they won 7-0). Everything went their way against the Jacksonville Crimsons as they made off with a 6-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cavaliers, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Not much got past Hallie Gibson, who gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks to keep Jacksonville off the board. Gibson has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hannah Gibson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Tiburzi, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Carlinville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Carlinville is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Jacksonville, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13-1.

Carlinville wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 12-1 victory against Greenfield/Northwestern on the 14th. As for Jacksonville, they have also already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Routt Catholic on the 14th.
