Recap: Hobgood Charter Raiders vs. Lawrence Academy Warriors
After flying high against the Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech Griffins last Tuesday, the Hobgood Charter Raiders came back down to earth. Hobgood Charter was dealt a 49-19 defeat at the hands of Lawrence Academy on Tuesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hobgood Charter in their matchups with Lawrence Academy: they've now lost four in a row.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Hobgood Charter struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lawrence Academy pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Lawrence Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Claire Smith out in front who scored eight points along with six steals. Another player making a difference was Trinity Congleton, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Hobgood Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Lawrence Academy, their victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.
Hobgood Charter won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Northeast Academy at 6:00 p.m. on November 29th. As for Lawrence Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Crossroads Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Crossroads Christian is ranked 97th, while Lawrence Academy is ranked 100th).
