League recap: Foothill climbs in state rankings with win

Foothill moved up to 156 from 201 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Eastern. The Cougars climbed the ranks as a result of besting Red Bluff 48-7.

Paradise took down Las Plumas 55-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Tom Hays threw for 118 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 37 yards in the win.

Zack Trueblood provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Enterprise beat Pleasant Valley. He completed 14 passes for 274 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for 32 yards. Trueblood's favorite target this week was Travis Hall, who caught four passes for 135 yards.

Matt Machado was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 170 yards as the Bobcats topped the Vikings. Teammate Jonathon Dixon added to the ground attack by rushing for 75 yards.

Ryan Pollard threw for 259 yards and five touchdowns. He went 18-23 with zero interceptions.

Adlai Topete made the biggest impact on defense this week as Foothill beat the Spartans. The 5-foot-10 senior racked up one sack.

Chico's Daniel Robbins and Jesse Holmes have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Robbins has thrown for 2450 yards this season, while Holmes has 73 catches for 1236 yards. Tucker Gulliford from Red Bluff leads the league in rushing with 1207 yards.

A big matchup in Eastern this week will be when Bryon Hamilton's team takes on Corey Hein's team. At the moment, the Cougars are in second, while the Spartans are in fifth.

Paradise led the league in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on the Thunderbirds. Hays in the win.
