Baseball Game Preview: Del Oro Golden Eagles vs. Jesuit Marauders

The Del Oro Golden Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Jesuit Marauders at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Jesuit took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Del Oro, who comes in off a win.

While Del Oro's win against Oak Ridge wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Golden Eagles had just enough and edged out the Trojans 5-4 on Tuesday.

Broc McReynolds tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over 4.1 innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Masen Belding was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Kevin Taylor also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Whitney hit Jesuit with a four-run sixth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Marauders fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 5-4.

Owen Page was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Jesuit saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eric Erdmann, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two doubles.

Jesuit's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Del Oro, their record is now 15-7.

Del Oro couldn't quite get it done against Jesuit when the teams last played back in March of 2018 as they fell 6-1. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
