Softball Recap: Holy Name Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Holy Name dropped their record down to 19-5 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They lost 7-0 to the Tallmadge Blue Devils. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Green Wave were not able to get on the board.

Reagan Vavro spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and six unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

As for Tallmadge, their win was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-8. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games.

On Tallmadge's side, the result came thanks to Larissa Taylor's shutout, as she gave up just six hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Marissa Charton, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Payton Almond was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

While Holy Name had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
