Football Recap: Windham Takes a Loss

Windham had lost four straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-5 to make it five. They were outmatched by the Ledyard Colonels and fell 53-13. Whippets fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Colonels since Friday.

When it comes to explaining why Windham lost, don't look at Kevon Roberts. Despite the final result, he rushed for 98 yards and two TDs on only eight carries, and also picked up 47 receiving yards. Roberts also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble and making one tackle (1.0 for loss).

As for Ledyard, their win bumped their record up to 4-2. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Jackson Favry produced another solid effort rushing for 49 yards and one score.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Windham will face off against New London at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Whippets will be up against the Whalers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.33 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Ledyard, they will square off against East Lyme at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
