Basketball Preview: Rampart Rams vs. Doherty Spartans
Rampart is 0-10 against the Spartans since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Rampart Rams will head out on the road to square off against the Doherty Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Rampart focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday.
Rampart's game was all tied up 22-22 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 45-44 to Vista Ridge. Rampart found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post nine fewer assists than your opponent.
Loss or not, Rampart got some senior leadership from Izzy Dalrymple and Emily Huxtable. Dalrymple scored 16 points, while Huxtable. scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Huxtable is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played.
Meanwhile, Doherty pushed their score all the way to 56 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They suffered a tough 78-56 loss at the hands of Valor Christian. Doherty has not had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Rampart's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Doherty, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-10.
Rampart suffered a grim 72-48 defeat to the Spartans in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Doherty's Bri Mansanares, who scored 18 points along with three steals.
