Basketball Recap: Minden's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Holdrege, Minden was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They secured a 51-46 W over the Broken Bow Indians. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Whippets as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Minden to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brett Eckhardt, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Eckhardt a new career-high in assists (seven). Another player making a difference was William Runions, who posted ten points and four steals.

Minden was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Broken Bow's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dominic Nowak, who earned 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zachary Jackson, who had ten points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Minden's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Broken Bow, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Minden has already played their next game (against Cozad), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Broken Bow will head out to challenge Lexington at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Broken Bow is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season.
