The Wilder Wildcats will venture away from home to take on the Horseshoe Bend Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Wilder took a 13-run loss the last time they faced off against Notus, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 victory over the Pirates on Monday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Horseshoe Bend). They were the clear victors by a 31-12 margin over Garden Valley on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won three matchups by 13 runs or more so far this season.
Horseshoe Bend got a massive performance out of Harper Kennedy, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and eight RBI. Kennedy is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Kinzee Ranft was another key player, going 5-for-6 with five runs, four RBI, and one triple.
Horseshoe Bend always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.
Wilder's record now sits at 2-6. As for Horseshoe Bend, their record is now 5-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wilder has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Horseshoe Bend struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Wilder got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Horseshoe Bend by a conclusive 11-4 score. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
