Basketball Recap: Edina Comes Up Short

Edina was the 62-51 winner over Rosemount when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Edina Hornets received a blow on Saturday as they fell 89-71 to the Rosemount Irish. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Hornets came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Irish are ranked 211th).

Edina's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Rosemount, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-5.

Edina will challenge East Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Edina knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully East Ridge likes a good challenge. As for Rosemount, they will head out to square off against Prior Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Prior Lake will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Rosemount surely won't give up without a fight.
