Basketball Recap: Wimberley Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

If Fredericksburg wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Wimberley, they should've done a better job of containing Paul Gumbert-Mendoza. The Wimberley Texans enjoyed a cozy 70-51 victory over the Fredericksburg Billies on Friday thanks in part to Gumbert-Mendoza, who went 10 of 20 on his way to 25 points in addition to seven assists and six boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Wimberley's points.

Fredericksburg's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Monger, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Kade Spies was another key player, putting up 12 points along with eight boards and four steals.
