Volleyball Recap: Newark Takes a Loss

Newark was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Reynoldsburg Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on April 8th.

Newark wouldn't go down easily and took Reynoldsburg into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking eight-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-17, 25-20, 20-25, 15-7.

Newark's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Reynoldsburg, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-10.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Newark will face off against rival New Albany at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Reynoldsburg is set to challenge their familiar foe Pickerington Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
